Our friends have been on holiday to USA and brought back some stretch vinyl net protective sleeves which fit over their wine glasses to stop them breaking while on the move.  Have "Googled" in vain and not come up with a result. Can anybody tell me where I can buy some?

Try looking for "mesh bottle sleeves", they use them in some off-licences.

The alterative would be to make your own out of a piece of fleece and some velcro, half an hours work and you can have whatever sizes you want very cheaply.

Thanks everyone!  Will have a look for the mesh bottle sleeves - if no luck, I'll do a DIY job with the sewing machine as suggested.  We've got plastic glasses for "everday" tippling but like to carry a few "posh" ones just in case we splash out on an extra special bottle of plonk.....  Cheers ma dears!

Another thing I've just thought of is the stuff delicate fruit like mangos sometimes come in in the supermarket , that's a sort of polystyrene mesh.

Hello elanman

Maybe I should buy a 50m roll, cut out and sew up loads of little wine glass size covers and start a business selling them on ebay!!!!

Seriously though, thanks muchly for the wineschoppen link (have saved it in my Favourites as there's lots of other interesting stuff on there) - the wine bottle size sleeves can be cut up and should do the job nicely.  PROBLEM SOLVED!

Try some small childrens socks. Just as effective and cheaper.

Like the idea of kids' socks - they're cheap as chips down on our local outdoor market.

My husbands socks come in handy for all delicate stuff. As long as I leave him a pair to wear he says nothing17including ours china mugs. Then into the drawers for packing together.
