We ordered a Wolf Lake 5 carpet and when it arrived - well it wasn't a carpet, it was like vinyl with no fleece - definitely a fault. We already had another Outwell carpet for another tent, so took pictures of them together and sent them off. The store agreed that it was faulty and sent a replacement. The second one was the same.
I have just heard from Outwell who have said that they have changed the quality of their carpets 'The quality has become higher, but yes the hairs got shorter as the tent climate got worse......etc' The english in the message was quite broken as I believe they are Danish??
Aaaargh, the carpets are not carpets anymore, someone please tell me where I can get last years WL5 carpet from, when they were carpets......
Has anyone else experienced this with the new Outwell carpets???????
I bought the new 2012 Nevada M carpet. When it arrived, I much preferred the old one. The new one was thinner, the fleece top was not as thick and it was a darker colour (dark green / brown).
I've not seen the lastest ones you describe, but can vouch for the fact the quality of Outwell carpets has gone downhill. We had some of the first ones (yellow and blue check) and they had thick fleece and backing. We now have some of the green check ones (with a square of nylon fabric on one side which you have to try and aim your folding-up towards, so that it all then rolls together) and they don't feel anywhere near as thick. They also crease more.
Wish we'd kept the old ones...rubbish pattern but good quality.
I would like to upload a photo of my patterned groundsheet, sorry I mean 2012 Outwell carpet, to show you, as I'm still not convinced it isn't actually faulty. Although judging by lidds and mcguire it's not looking good......
Gymbob: it's not that difficult.. The most importatnt thing is to upload the picture to the web. Then you link to it (copy and paste) with the button.
As an example: this link
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-RZSD21PSUoI/T1CNqXGUGVI/AAAAAAAAAhw/vG3sA2Co4Tk/s500/coleman_dual_fuel_2_burner_stove__48162_zoom.jpg
Copy the above link and paste into your message using the button
Will give this image:
Give it a try: Copy the address of the image given and post it into your message with the image button shown and you should have a copy of the Coleman dual fuel stove image
You are nearly there Gymbo the link works when I click on it. Hence I could copy it. By clicking on the bit that says IMG Code and then pasting it on here.
We too have been disappointed with the quality of the new Outwell carpets. We have a carpet for our Nevada XL and it's the light brown one with the Outwell logo all over. It's good quality, thick and warm.
Based on the quality of the Nevada one, we didn't think twice about buying one for our Bear Lake, but when it arrived, we were really disappointed. It's far thinner, not as comfortable and the back of it is kind of slippy. When it's fitted in the tent, we've nearly gone flying as the carpet has slipped underneath our feet. Not sure we're going to use it any more.
Everything else we have from Outwell is good quality and we're really pleased with, but the new carpet is a real step backwards in product quality in my opinion and we will be careful about buying anything else from them if this is any gauge for the 'improvement' in quality to be expected.
------------- Junk: stuff we throw away... Stuff: junk we keep...
When the picture is open on photobucket you get the box on the right that says LINKS with lots of different link options. Click on the one that says IMG code and it changes to 'copied'. Then on UKCS right click in the message box and select paste. Your picture should then show. If you are on the photobucket menu (with all your pictures showing) hover your mouse over the picture you want to put up and the LINKS box comes up and you can click on IMG code from there. Hope that helps.
Great ! I ordered a 2012 Montana 6 carpet today (the mocha colour one) but if that's the sort of quality I'll be getting, it's going straight back to Go Outdoors.
