We bought a new 12v leisure battery a week ago just before coming away on holiday . All seemed fine for a couple of days then i noticed that when we switched on one of the lights the meter dropped straight away out of the green and into the yellow. It then seemed to stabilize and would charge back up into the green the next day. Last night all the lights dimmed considerably and the water pump kicked in for no reason. On checking the meter it is well into the red area. I isolated the water pump which then took the needle just into the yellow area. After charging all day today the needle is just back into the green area but as soon as i switch a light on it drops straight into the red. If i switch the water pump back on it kicks in very slowly but the needle goes straight into the red again and there isn't enough power to suck anything up. Can this be anything else but my brand new battery? Is there a way to make the 240v power the 12v systems? On my old Lunar Delta if i disconnected the battery the electric box would sort out the 12v but that dosnt seem to work with this van. For info i have a 1994 Sprite Europa 450 ES. Home is a good 4 hours away so taking the battery back is not an option at the moment. Any advice will be gratefully received

Sounds like it's not charging properly - check the connections to the battery for tightness. If you've got a voltage tester you can also check that the charger is actually working.

The connections are nice and tight, should the charger be charging at 12v or higher?

Charging is normally 13.8V - 14.2. I,d check the the battery voltage with it disconnected if it is below 11v it is flat. If you can also check the voltage on thr rig, if this is also very low then it suggests that the unit is not charging. this is propably why the batttery failed in the first place
