How long is a piece of string?

To answer your question we would need to know about the laptop power consumption, the state of its battery, the capacity of the 'van battery and what state of charge it is in, and the type/efficiency of adaptor being used, as a minimum.

If it's a recent, energy-efficient laptop and the 'van battery is in a good state I'd guess at a good few hours - possibly in the range 10-20 hours. Someone else may have more info based on experience, but it will still be dependent on many factors...

I'd say most modern latops will last at least one movie, although the very fact you are playing the movie is using up a lot of the processing power and spinning things (DVD) so would not last as long as say surfing the net etc.

Next ideally you do not want to be going from the 12v of the rigs battery, to 240v via the inverter, back to laptop voltage ~19v as that is wasting power. So better to find a car (12v) charger.

A typical laptop PSU is around 90W (7.5A) so if you had a 75Ahr lesiure battery that was fully charged will give 10 hours off that + 2 hours either side on the laptop battery

A portable DVD player may be more efficent.
