Does anyone know where I can get any coleman propane cylinders for the perfectflow gas stove at the moment or soon? Need them for week beginning the 5th. Please help as they seem out of stock everywhere?
I don't even have the coleman propane bottles. I feel really stupid because I just ordered the stove. If I had known there would be this much bother i would never have ordered it. I have e-mailed them to cancel my order but have had no reply so far.
I believe from an earlier thread on here that it is hopefully a temporary shortage. We have a Coleman converter hose that connects to a Calor propane cylinder. This is quite expensive but, in the long run, works out much cheaper than the small cylinders.
I emailed Coleman UK early June about the shortage of propane gas (I have the fold 'n' go stove, nightstar lantern and black cat heater which all run of the same propane cylinder so am just a little bit buggered without it) They told me the cylinders would be available again from end of July...not long now!!

Ianclose where did you get your adapter from to connect straight to the bottle iwould love one of these for my fold n go
Hi. I got mine from the US via ebay. They are quite expensive but once you've got it, it's a lot cheaper than buying the small coleman cylinders. Someone found a supplier in the UK a while back but I can't find the link at present.
They have plenty in the Camping and Kite Centre in Raglan, South Wales, for anyone down that way.
Have you cancelled your stove Carasash, or would you like me to get you a couple of cylinders? We're coming back up on Sunday, then down in Perth on Tuesday, so it wouldn't be impossible to get them to you. £13.50 a pair, if I remember correctly. I assume they are the same as the ones which are used with the Blackcat heater? If you're interested, let me know asap.
I believe that the cylinders that plumbers use for their blow torches are the same thread and size
but I'd take the stove with you just to check that the thread is the right size
I struggled massively before this weekend's camping trip to find a solution to this issue (I have a Fold n' Go Stove). Problem was solved with the plumbing gas option, it was £6 for a 400g bottle. To find one Google "Red Propane Gas Cylinder 400g", or click on this link on this link.
These bottles are designed for plumber's blow torches I believe, mine is red - although I think they come in blue also. The fitting is the same (I used one this weekend and it worked fine). Slightly less gas than a Coleman bottle (400g vs 465g), but available and actually cheaper per gram than anything else I can find! The thread is approx 25mm diameter. Please note that plumbers gas bottles also have a special high temperature version - strongly not recommended!!! (These come in yellow bottles I believe)
I contacted Coleman and they said that there was a shortage in the UK but they have resolved whatever the importing issue was and that bottles are now on their way to stockists. Go Outdoors have removed all fold n go stoves etc from their shelves and similar products. My advice is get online and grab yourself a bargain - lots of stockists are trying to shift these cheap. The gas is available (from plumbing stores) ALL OVER the UK. Fold n Go stoves are selling as little as £40 new on eBay!! (RRP £80 I think). Ours is amazing (my top tip is add tin foil around the outer of the burners to protect from wind - it quadruples efficiency)
Reference using the refilling adapters - all the research I did online advised massively against this. The cylinders are designed to be disposable and single use. I wasn't too keen to try this. Here is a youtube video on it for interest - strongly NOT recommended!! How to refill Coleman Propane bottles
Had I have failed with the plumbing gas, I was going to try one of these from eBay. Has anyone tried one of these and if so how did you get on? I assume the link up is Calor Gas Bottle > Regulator > Hose > The Adapter Mentioned > Coleman Bottle Attachment Arm Thingy > Stove. My question is - would this work with a Butane bottle? My theory being this must be the cheapest way of buying the gas and I already use Butane with my Fridge, so it would make sense to have a splitter and do it this way.
Thanks for all those above who have posted - I found your pointers very helpful!
The thread on the top is the same as my plumbers blowtorch. Fit a red governor on top and connect your stove up.. Note that the governor and tube etc is also on that link at £9

thanks everyone for all the advice, ended up getting the campingaz duo plus for 11 quid at tesco this week. it takes quite a few popular cartridges and they seem to be for sale at campsite shops.
