Hi
I've got a Franc GE133 trailer and want to add some locking wheel nuts to it.
the wheels are the standard 8" factory wheels which have 10mm conical nuts which are tapered flat with a 17mm head (socket/spanner size head of the nut)
I've been told that the Erde and Maypole locking nuts will not fit as the thread is different.
i've tried a standard M10 & M8 nut & bolt onto the stud and wheel nut to see what type of thread they are and these don't fit what Franc trailers have used.
Does anyone know what type of locking wheel nut a Franc GE133 or GA130 trailer will take?
I've emailed Franc in France to see if they do sell them or if they can advise me of the wheel stud size/thread type so I can then try and match online but not received a reply as yet.

I'd be more worried about my trailer being nicked! I take my wheels off to deter thief's, not lock them on!
Same here, as the Franc stands on it's end , wheels off, tipped up, and chained in the garden works well. Have to say that it now lives in the garage over winter as the camping storage cupboard so don't do this now.

My Duuo trailer had the same wheels/nuts and like you I looked everywhere for the locking type. You won't get them mate. In the end I bought a Bulldog Trailclamp and a secondhand Bulldog hitchlock off Flebay and then worried that someone would just walk off with it all so then I bought a Almax Immobiliser series 1V uber + Squire SS65CS padlock.
You can keep going buying stuff to keep your trailer safe, best I see at one campsite this bloke took off one wheel locked it in his boot and hitchlocked it. Really you only need a hitchlock that covers the bolts and stops someone putting it onto a smaller tow ball, mine has a plate that fits into the towball socket. Once on site you will be suprised to see no one touches your stuff, everyone looks out for each other. Its only at home I chain it to a ground anchor.
Gareth, you need to read my original post - i'm after locking wheel nuts to avoid me taking the wheels off to stop some other bugger taking them off.
It's chained up at home and will be hitch locked whilst away at sites/festivals etc. however the trailers no use if some bleeder takes the wheels. Hence, asking if anyone has got locking wheel nuts for this type of trailer.
Hi GAVLAD.
I took one of my Lider Trailer wheelnuts down to the local scrapyard, and discovered that it fitted the wheel stud of a Porsche 924 perfect and the seat of the nut matched the Porsche perfect.
With that info in hand, I ordered a set of Stop-Lock locking wheelnuts of Ebay, set of 4 for £20.
They do the job fine, although even being made of steel, they are designed for the deep recess of an alloy wheel, but are fine for for my steel rims.
Maybe one day I will treat my Trailer to a pair of Alloy rims!.
