Hi. We've just returned from a nice holiday in our tent. However, one of the areas that I think I could improve on was how we stored our clothes for myself, other half and 2 young boys. We had our small suitcases in the tent but needless to say things got a bit messy. Has anyone got any good ideas of how to store clothes in a tent? I didn't particularly want to buy one of those wardrobes as we haven't really got much room in the car for anything else too big! Thanks for looking.

we use a hanging rail. really light and comes apart into four sections really easy, think they have them in argos.

Personally, and I'm not being sarcastic here, I have two bags. One for dirty clothes, and the other for clean(ish) clothes. Both sets of clothes are screwed up and look a pretty horrid mess - but at least one of them is always clean. At some point during the camping trip, when the smell becomes too much to bear, my nominally attached female associate (wife to you) will collect the bag of dirty clothes (unless she's had too much wine, in which case it will be the clean bag) and will walk down to something called 'the laundry room' (I know that because there's a sign on the door) and do something called 'washing' - she doesn't iron! The newly cleaned clothes will go back in the empty clean clothes bag, and the whole sordid business starts over again.

Life must go on...

These look quite good and a few people on here have them. Dirty clothes can go in a pop up hamper like this one.

Either that or use smaller bags and everyone has their own, which might make things a bit tidier.

I don't suppose its much different to suitcases, but we use Vango cargo bags, which the whole top opens on. We use 1 each for a week (45l for our son and 60l (I think) for each adult) and combine for a weekend. We basically stack the clothes in the bags for logical and easy access.

We use either a large plastic shopping bag for dirty washing or a washing machine mesh bag if the dirty washing has to fit back in the cargo bags when compact camping (the air easily compresses out with the mesh).

You can use these washing machine meshes to help organise clean clothes in the cargo bags too - and they are certainly cheap!

Fold up crates for us, you can fold them flat in the car or like us put your camping gear in them to transport in car, use them for clothes while away and then store your stuff in them back at home. Pop up hamper for dirty clothes, only a couple of quid from b&m

Just holdalls for us, bit of a pain having to dig around in there to find something but I can live with it for a week at a time, it just gets zipped up and put away in bedroom after we're dressed. Funny thing is, our tent has a built in wardrobe! (never used yet)

Dirty washing goes in big bin bag in porch or trailer out of the way.

One large holdall each for clean clothes and a large bin bag for dirty. Thinking about getting one of these to tidy things up a bit.

Just get a clothes rail from Argos & a couple of those canvas shelf units which you hang from the rail & it drops down giving you seven shelves. This keeps the clothes tidy & each person has their own sections. You can also hang coats up on the rail which certainly keeps the tent tidy, and dry your towels on it too.

We picked up a couple of boxes from Ikea. They fold completely flat so take up no room in the car then pop open and zip the base to get sturdy boxes. We have one each an its for your own 'stuff' - toilet bag, towels, fleeces etc.

In addition we have holdalls for our clothes and just get stuff out when needed.

Finally we have a bag from ikea the zips inside itself so its small, but open up to be a flimsy holdall. i wouldn't trust it for carrying stuff, but perfect for stuffing dirty clothes in. Eventually we wash and put he clothes back in the holdalls or alternatively at 'tipping point' we combine our clean clothes into one holdall and stuff the dirty clothes in the other.

Sounds fussier than it actually is. When you are away for a fortnight you need to keep on top of it so you can enjoy the camping, outdoors and beer. You don't want to be reminded of the reality of dirty clothes.

We use boxes, 1 for each person.

Works very well, we put sleeping bag and pillow for that person in the box too. Then there is room to root through for clothes once there.
