But i feel the cold alot whilst sat in the tent. We have quality bedding and i'm not cold in bed but i do get cold whilst sitting in the living area!!

It sounds as though you've got your bedding sorted but the clothing your wearing is not doing the job of keeping you warm enough. Have you thought about buying dedicated outdoor/walking clothing?

Many people spend thousands of pounds on camping equipment and making it all lovely and pretty but fail to spend a few ££'s on clothing to keep them warm in and out the tent while away. Modern fabrics mean you dont have to dress like an Eskimo or have the national grid divert 10 megawatts to your tent for all the fan heaters anymore. Even if it's just a decent fleece to go over your shoulders it can make the world of difference.

Gas lamps are fine as long as you make sure there are no little uns that can knock them over and will add to the heating but they can get very hot near the glass etc.

The safest form of lighting is LED. Thats what I run. I have made my own using LED tape stuck in ali U section. This physically protects the LED and helps dissipate the heat better. Also means I can have a length and light output to suit my needs. I have some clips that then allow them to be hooked on the poles.

Most of the "off the peg" torches and camping lights that I have seen do not offer an option for the colour of the light output and typically use Cool White (CW) LEDs as these are the brightest and most efficient. Mine are in <font color="#ff0000" target="_blank">warm white (WW). You can see the difference between WW & CW by looking at the little solar lights marking the guys v's the light from the tent...

The lighting you see here is from two 1.5m sections to left & right of the awning and a 1m section to the rear seating area. OTT really but I was not sure how good they were going to be. In reality we often only have the one on tn the right where the kitchen is.

Just to resurrect an old thread... Have you got any more information on the LED strips you made? Looking into lighting now for our Pullman and LEDs seem the sensible way to go (especially as it would be rare we're not on a EHU).
