Hi,

I bought an Outwell Michigan XL in 2010 and would like to buy the front extension.

I have since learned that Outwell have not only discontinued the extension but the tent too!

Would anybody know if there was a good substitute that give as close a fit as possible for the Michigan tent? I've heard Vango and Gelert do a universal extension.

Or, if anybody knows where I can buy a Michigan extension, new or second hand!

I'm afraid I am having no luck either. Have purchased a Nevada awning to check for fit. It was too wide.
The gelert universal porch will fit but they have discontinued them. Nightmare!

hi there - how fussy you are with things matching and co-oridinating perfectly?

your tent is the brown colour but outwell make a tent called the birdland 3

the birdland 3 is green but there is an extension available for it and its almost the identical size as the michigan xl front - 265cm wide.

the outwell front extensions i have do have an elasticated attachment to the tent (trout & bear tents) so perhaps the birdland does too. id imagine the birdland extension would fit to your tent size wise very well - you might need to fiddle around with attachment clip positions a bit but at least the awning is an almost identical size to the original.

in fact looking closely at the pics of your tent with extension on the reviews on here and the pic of the birdland awning on yeomans - looking at how they are attached to the tent, id say its the same awning - except in green!

i think the brown tent and green awning would make a nice contrast too.

and yeomans have the awning on sale just now too :-

Unfortunately the birdland 3 is out of stock everywhere. Does anyone else have any further suggestions. Greatly appreciated!

I was going to suggest the Gelert lakesbury 4 porch as its available in Brown but the tent a bit wider 15cm and I dont know how the fixings would work but may be worth investigating a bit further

I am not worried about the colour clash as I'm just keen to find something so any colour will do at the moment. I've since learnt too that the gelert is no longer available.

Will try and track down this Birdland 3.

Have purchased a vango family shelter today for our stint in Newquay. Just in the hope we can keep the rain off. I'll let you know how it goes.
