Anyone have an opinion on PVC vs polyethylene? Almost all groundsheets these days seem to be PE, where the ones I remember from years ago were PVC.

Is PE better? Or just cheaper?

i think its the oil that makes the pvc so expensive,yes you are right about pvc being cheap years ago.pe is cheaper but not better in my opinion.

Splodget - you can still get PVC groundsheets. I prefer them too, as they're quieter and smoother to walk on.

There are several brands/retailers out there, this is just one example: PVC groundsheets

My Soulpad tent came with a PVC groundsheet, really nice to walk on, and for me atleast, it smells nice.
