My daugther(4 years old) and I went on our maiden camping voyage last weekend, and had a great time. We shared a double airbed, and although my daughter slept like log, everytime I turned over, she rolled on top of me because of the way the airbed dipped. It was awful... a bit like a water bed. Then at 2am, my backside was touching the cold floor through the mattress, and it only stayed 'elevated' if I lay flat on my back. Soooo, I thought I need two single blow up mattress instead. But then, looking around, I've seen some cheap campbeds, and I was wondering about putting single airbeds ON TOP of the campbeds... so that I don't get that 'roll off the bed and onto the floor' feeling in a morning... (that was the worst feeling EVER, actually crawling out of bed...). Putting 20cm of air bed on top of 20cm of bed, makes a decent height so I don't have to do the (not very graceful) crawling thing.... However, the girl in Go Outdoors today said that she didn't think it would work... something about the airbed putting too much pressure on the campbed. I would have thought it would have lessened the pressure actually, since the weight of my backside would surely be more evenly distributed across the airbed? Do you think it could work? I realise SIMS seem to be with way to go, but I am on a budget, so can't keep buying. (its already cost far more than I anticipated, but I need to be comfortable when sleeping....) I bought the two campbeds today, and now wonder if I should go back and get a couple of single airbeds to go on top... only 6 quid each... What do you think? ------------- Single parent with a small child, braving the wild (campsites) and putting up tents on my own. How clever!
