Getting fed up of our pathetic little ufo lights in the tent.  Sometimes we take EHU and sometimes we dont.  Is there such a thing on the market as a mains and battery powered light that throws out a decent amount of light - seems overkill to have one kind of light for times with EHU and another for the other times.

Cheers

Hi,

we bought an Outwell Superior 400LX-R lantern at the beginning of this season and it's been great. Much better than any light we've used so far.

Very good amount of warm light. Can be used on a table or can be hung via a hook which attaches to the base. When hung upside down, you can remove the shade to prevent it casting shadows.

It lights up all of our four man tent and most of our Vermont L. Plenty of light for general use and enough to read by as long as you're not sat too far away.

It's battery powered (no mains option) and takes six D type batteries. We have had about eighteen nights (about two hours per night) out of the first set of batteries so far and it's still going strong.

It's not cheap at arounf £50 but still highly recommended.
