Hi ho
just a quick post to let you know about the day i gad today.

I purchased a twin burner with grill from mountain warehouse. And it didnt come with a valve or hose

went to b and q to see if i could get a hose vavle and bottle of gas

now i made it clear i wanted this setup for a camp cooker and was mis sold a bottle of patio heater gas and the wrong vavle a a too short hose.

After an hour of arguing that this is their problem and not calor gas. because to calor gas its a third party dispute. I managed to get a full refund. so bewarned.    i was almost £70 out of pocket.

The logic of my formula tells me your stupid because you prefer hotels.

The best gas bottle for that type of cooker is Camping Gaz 907 and compatible Regulator also a hose of 1.5M or more.

With respect Jeff,

the best options would be as follows;

UK winter - calor propane, any size.

UK summer - calor butane, any size.

Anywhere else in the world - camping gaz 901 to 907.

Get the shortest hose possibe to reduce the trip hazard.

There is nothing wrong with using Calor Patio Gas for camping - many do as it is just propane after all. If you were sold the wrong regulator, that is another issue, and the pipe must always be as short as possible. £70 is what it costs for a new contract and a filled cylinder. There is no issue swapping one kind of Calor cylinder for another type. However, a much cheaper way to start off is to get a cylinder from your local recycling site or try freecyle or eBay.

Quick question folks it might be a daft one.
Why should the hose be as short as possible?

Tefkas - some places will no longer swap one sized Calor Bottle for another - or at least they wouldn't last year.   I had to get the gas for the church BBQ - and because they couldn't get at their bottle in time (genuine reason) I took my empty 7.5 kilo with the intention of getting it swapped for a 15kg - and then swapping their empty 15kg for a 7.5 kg so we still had a small one.   Went along to the local camping shop and was told that Calor would no longer allow them to swap.    Yet in the past this had never been a problem.   It had always been any Calor for any Calor.
I can not guarantee this is truly the case, or it was just the shop or a local issue - but it wouldn't surprise me if it were the case.

Paul and Kate - hose short to avoid trip hazard and wasting of gas on disconnecting.

With regards swapping between bottle sizes - there are 2 groups with the 15kg butane and propane being in one, and everything else being in the other. In theory no swapping between groups, however our local supplier has. I believe caravan dedicated places won't, but more hardware based suppliers will be more flexible.

Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.

Wow! A 1.5m hose seems excessively long. That's the length of me!

I've noticed more and more people using the Calor light cylinders recently.
