Hi Campers. Need to get a new tent light for hanging centrally. I will run it of the E/hook up so would need longish cable. Most lights are lantern type which dont illuminate all around (underneath). Any ideas or suggestions.
Have a look at the Kampa awning light thats what we use

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
For our fortnight campings in the South of France during July, we now use a BulkHead lantern, £4 from CPC, it takes a 150watt Halogen Bulb, but only draws 105watt, it''s super bright at over 2000 lumens, so I added an inline rotary dimmer switch, £10 of eBay.
Great bit of kit, and there is nothing like it on the market, total cost was under £20.
The outwell Castor is a nice light. 5m length cable. We picked one up at go outdoors in July for £13.

Not what you are really talking about, what about Solar powered fairy/string lights, seen them on ebay 12mtrs long for around £25. Last about 8hrs on a full charge, you can drape them around the inside/outside of tent, totally weatherproof and they cost nothing to run.

+ 1 for the Castor lamp.

Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
Another vote for the outwell Castor. Check the box before you get it though as some of them seem to be supplied with a shorter cable, only 2m instead of 5m

Yes have heard that as well. I think the issue has been sorted though now. I'm waiting for the price to fall online to get another, this time for our loft. It's such a good light.

We use a car inspection lamp, it has a really long cord and has the protecetive portion of the cover, we just hook the clip through the eyelet (or on new tent use a cable tie we leave in place)

We bought one of these http://www.caseysoutdoorleisure.co.uk/item/Vango/60-LED-Wand-Light/2RF last year for use in our tent. The advantage of it is that you can use it without an EHU or if there is a power cut at home, etc. The power supply from the EHU to the light is only 12 volt so it is safer.
