Hi

We use an AverTV Volar HD dongle with our laptop to receive Freeview TV. This works well enough for BBCs 1 and 2 and News but we only get sound with BBC 3 and 4. We use a Vision Plus VP1 amp with a Vision Plus aerial on our Elddis van.

Anyone know of a better laptop solution - other than a satellite dish!

If you have Wifi, then I would Recomend using

Sky Go, TV Catch Up, IPlayer

TV Catch up allows you to watch Live TV for all freeview Channels, Iplayer and Sky go, will allow you to watch or download there respective channels

Best Regards

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

other than wifi you could buy a moblie internet dongle or get a contract one they are not as good as wifi but aslong as you can get mobile phone signal you should be fine with one of these as it uses a sim card

Im new to this please be gentle

Thanks for the responses.

WIFI rarely available on the sites that we frequent or too expensive! Need Freeview solution.

Have considered satellite dish but don't want to hump the extra mass with our small van. A good quality receiver is what we are after, rather than an Internet based solution.

Tv dongles can be very sensitive to reception strength (not quality)and it may be the case that you do not need the amp on. Have you tested the aerial setup with a conventional tv setup to be sure that it is up to the job. If this is the case then it is your tuner that is at fault.
My daughter uses This connected to our house aerial and it works fine. She can also record on to her disk to view later but I have no idea how she does that.

Thanks for the further replies.

We currently use a dongle with a laptop and it works fine in an area with good reception. We get problems in areas with poor signal strength, while some programmes are available in sound only.

I was wondering if I threw some money at the problem, a bigger box than a dongle for example, would that help? Are there any better quality products on the market?

I use a dongle on my laptop. On some sites I get loads of channels and others nothing, it's then that we watch films I've already reloaded and listen to radio for news.
