Excellent. Using 1 bar keeps the chill off, anti-tilt is safe and it doesn't use a lot of power. I saw a 1kw, 2 bar in B&Q today for £20, but that's a lot more than I paid.

some days you are the tree.
I have a Towsure one, which has a folding stand and two bars (each 400w). I have used it in a frame tent and in a trailer tent. It does not have the bright light that a lot of domestic ones have and goes off automatically if it is knocked over. I have found it very good as I don't like fan heaters because they dry the air out and make my eyes sore. Not sure that I would use them with young children though.
They only seem to heat whatevers directly in front of them, not very good as a space heater like the fan heaters, so it depends what you want it to do.

dont bother have tried them all , fan heater they are fantastic . you can have my halogen heater save me filling my dustbin. the heat circulates all around the tent. very cosy all the time- shaun
Personally I found a halogen heater to be pretty useless at heating a tent - fine if you are sitting directly infront of it but not much use otherwise. An 800w one even struggled to heat my tiny caravan!
I use a small 2kw fan heater now with adjustable thermostat, temperature control, cool blow facility, frost protection and safety cut out. I have only ever used it on the 1kw setting, with the temperature set at about 1/2 and found this more than enough to warm all of our tents, including our 8 berth Khyam Ontario.
