Warm Feet and Clean Floors with Outwell Carpets Not only does a carpet enhance an Outwell tent’s head-turning good looks, but it provides extra insulation that encourages a camper to remove dirty footwear and enjoy the delights of walking barefoot on a soft warm surface.
Have you got an Outwell Carpet? Or are you considering one? Or are they just not for you?
Hi we are new to camping this year, we were pursuaded to go camping for CarFest South and brought a Vango Beta 350. Loved it so much we came back & brought a Glendale 5. After looking at everyone's tents on here and the very nice carpets we decided to buy some. Unfortunately the Outwell carpets were pricey so brought
Gelert carpet for the main room and also a small matching one to go under the bed- so we were tempted by the Outwell carpets but didn't buy them. Love the feel of th carpet especially as we went away for a weekend 2 weeks ago and the Saturday night went down to about 4' but nice and snug. Looking forward to next yr. Sorry bit off topic.
Camped for years without carpets as they were not available for the tents we had. But now the bones are getting older and we've gained a couple of rugrats a carpet was a must for our montana 6, and quite honestly we wouldn't be without it now, after all rugrats need a rug to rat about on .
------------- Dance before the storm and don't look back to where you've been.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the gravity of the situation.
We have the Virginia 5 & carpet & it is great so much more comfortable than walking on the groundsheet & yes we do take off our shoes before we come in.
I like having a carpet, and one that 'fits' is easier and safer than picnic rugs that ruck.
But, I don't like the fact that most of them slip.
We have one picnic rug that I love: it has a heavy feeling rubbery backing, with a warm non-pill fleece top. It stays put, feels warm underfoot and also folds up neatly.
But, our 2012 Outwell carpet, fits the tent great, but slides about. Wish I could buy the picnic rug (wedding gift so about 16 years old now) in larger sizes...
Depends what the quality of the outwell ones are like for next year. I'm after one for our vermont xlp but the quality this year has been shocking. They have been the poorest of all the manufacturers.
We use double sided Velcro to keep our carpets in place.
I dont have an outwell carpet but we did purchase a carpet for our royal tuscon tent and it was a good buy - especially for evenings when you all sit down for a quick game or some lazing around. Think it was about £40 and it fitted the main area of the tent which was plenty for a family of four gathering. I can imagine it'll be even nicer to have that now the weather has gotten much colder.
This year on my main holiday I had two carpets down in my Icarus 500...My old Gobi 4 carpet went in the enclosed awning...Vango carpet in the living space for the tent (which was meant to be a clean(ish) area) And for the sleeping pods I used a large piece of canvas that I cut from an old frame tent years ago which I use in the pods of all my tents...
Must say its really comfy having something underfoot on top of the groundsheet especially in the morning when getting dressed...But have to admit our clean area did not stay clean very long....Started off with the shoes/boots off rule when entering the tent but soon got fed up untying my walking boots when entering the tent every time so the clean(ish)area did not stay clean very long...Not a problem...As I live a rather cluttered existance generally.....My tent was described by someone as looking like a "Teenage boys bedroom" when they had a look in and compared it to someone else's tent...Again no problem as I have better things to do when off camping than run round with a hoover....

Might be a stupid question but can you use an awning carpet in your tent? We have a skandika helsinki family tent and cant find one specifically for this type of tent but can find awning carpets that would fit. Thanks in advance x
Hi quietshoes we use an woven awning carpet in the extension
Of our tent works well , see no reason why you can't use it in the main
Tent put your heavier stuff in the corners.
Re keeping the floor clean, Crocs are brilliant for camping as they are so easy to slip on and off at the door. Learned this the hard way after we took walking boots and wellies on our first March camping trip! If you get them online you can get them without holes - much more practical for walking in the rain or dew soaked grass!
We have picnic rugs, a super soft fleece one for the bedroom that goes under the airbeds (well mine anyway), and a huge one that all but fits the main room.
