We are pondering this question as well. Being swayed towards a breathable one.

Its so difficult - some say yes and some say no *shrugs*

We used a cover for the first time last year and were very impressed. In fact we are going to the caravan tomorrow for our last overnight stay of the season to give the van it's final bath and then put the breathable cover on. It really is great to go to the van for the beginning of the season, take the cover off and hey presto the van is immaculate. We've had three winters without and only the one with but much prefer the cover.

I've had a caravan cover on mine for the last two winters, and before that a tarp!

I had to do extensive sealant work on the roof when I first got it, as it was leaking. It took ages to find and cure the leaks, so for that if no other reason I use a breathable cover so that the sealant doesn't get all the winter weather.

I also leave open all the lockers and take out the beds, which I store behind the wardrobe in the house over winter.

I also have a hitch cover, which stops water getting to all the electric and metal bits. I wouldn't be without either. Others I know won't use one and every spring they have trouble either with the electrics to the car, or trouble with the hitch, or trouble with the handbrake, etc, etc.

Think I'm going to go for it - esp with all the rain forecast - will keep it clean too. going for a 3 ply - think they are all breathable - but getting one with elastic skirt to keep it snug. Found one for £75 inc postage for a 21ft :-)

Went to the caravan storage gave it a wash and dry (Roof as well) empty everything out from inside including the cushions .awning left all the taps open including the cassette toilet ,cupboards open and the fixed bed left up then put salt pots out , and finally put the breathable  cover on ( The flu and ariel we have something we put around so the cover does not rip and tear) Our breathable cover does the front where the electrics  and towing  hitch  are . This is our Fourth  season with the breathable winter cover and so far it has been great . Our caravan we have had from new it is four years old when someone says it looks brand new we are doing something right...

I have been asking the same question, but was adviced not to bother because of the air flow and the cover could interfere with that?? but also the dealers never cover the stock up do they??. So still debating but erring to the side of not bothering!!!.....

We've been having the same debate. I'd like a full cover but my OH thinks that a roof cover would suffice. I agree with him that it would be easier to put on but are they any good?

My breathable cover definitely breathes... In the spring I have to dust the caravan! Much better than having to wash of a winter's worth of muck though.
