When is the best time to buy a tent? Im assuming end of the season, but I have my eye on an Outwell tent and they are very expensive. Is there a time between now and the summer when tents generally go on sale?
Now is probably the best time there has ever been to buy, lots of bargains around if youre after an Outwell have a look at "Yeomans" website as they are selling some model off realy cheap

If you're not bothered about having the very latest model, now is a good time to buy a "last season" tent. There are some very good deals around.I just got a Khyam pocket duo for just under half RRP from somerset camping

Now would be a good time unless you want a 2013 'model'. Who knows the real price of a tent? 'Mrrp' is just a marketing ploy imho, so any reduction from that is seen as a bargain. If you can get a good reduction now on the tent you want then buy it now but you will need to check very carefully when you receive it that there are no faults & nothing is missing as the supplier may not entertain a claim much later if you buy now & do not unwrap until spring.
A lot depends on luck, often you are better talking to the staff in the camping shops, as the best deals are not always online, anytime after September is a good start.
I got lucky when I bought my new Cabanon back in September 2008, from Catterick Caravans, Cabanon were on the cusp of going bust, and Catterick were clearing all Tent stock, so bagged me a bargain for £699 equivalent Cabanon Tent now would be around £1,700 so happy days.
I was in go outdoors Colchester today, and I saw a guy do a deal on an outwell tent. It was in the sale for 250, not sure on model, but it was last one, and the bag had a mark on it. He said he.was buying aload more camping stuff. But in the end he got the tent reduced to 200, he then spent a further 350 on camping equipment. So I would say get out there and ask there best price. I always ask for best prices in shops, you never know.
The reason for the Kampa Classic deals is that Kampa are not making the polycotton classics in 2013 so these will become old stock if not sold quickly. Still a great chance to get a decent polycotton at a knockdown price

I managed to get my Outwell Cleveland for £249.99 at Yeomans as it is a 2012 one and they seem to have loads in stock. Whatever the reason, I am happy with my purchase.
Maybe have a ring round as well. As has been said here already, sometimes you get the flexibility of bargaining with a real person and you might be able to get it for less.

Good luck!
Looks a good price for the montana and if you get it price matched at go it will be £341.00 or £346.00 inc buying the go card.
The cleveland 5 is a nice tent and at £249.99 or £225.00 pm'd at go

Its interesting how this thread has suddenly become about the price of the Montana
