In the situation of no EHU, so you are using the gas to run a 3 way fridge, the official line from companies like 'Dometic' is that these fridges are not designed for internal use while using the gas.....

I thought this was the whole point of them? Surely leaving it outside the tent is too risky in regards theft etc,

What is the general thinking?

I mean in regards to using a 3way fridge in a tent, raised off the ground sheet to improve air flow and with a carbon monoxide detector in the tent.

So far I havent used it but it does pride itself on its airflow and its 'starlight roof'.

You would think surely with all the ventilation it wouldnt be a problem... Although as you say no manufacturer would ever state due to the legal issues...

The answer is no

The tent is not any different than any other with mesh windows with covers.  It is a sealed  plastic bag when all said and done.   Nor has it a kitchen area,  best bet is buy a utility tent  for cooking and cooling.

We have had far to many deaths already, be it gas  or solid fuel.

Your tent for people, utility tent for every thing else.

We've used our fridge on gas in both of our canvas frame tents, raised on wooden planks & with a CM detector nearby, however, canvas does breathe & our tents don't have a sig either.

Our Combi Camp has a factory fitted 3-way fridge in the kitchen unit, and that is fixed to the back of the trailer, so it is meant to be used inside the awning. I must admit that we've only used that one on EHU so far, but would have no quarms about using it on gas if needed.

Im not saying you should use the fridge on gas in this tent but the tent you have from the research I have done has a huge mesh area in the roof 9most of the roof area) and low level vents that should always be open giving the tent a lot of air flow. The big side mesh panels will be closed at night but this as with most USA/AUS/NEW ZEALAND style tents have mega amounts of venting. This is not such a great idea in the UK (sorry). The main inner front door has a full mesh panel as well leading to the main front door in the porch area that has not got a SIG. So all in all this is one of the best vented tents on sale in the UK.

If I was to use a gas fridge in this tent I would put it in the porch area also. The only problem you have then is if the gas flame blows out but dont worry as the gas will cut out also.
