I to use points of interest on my garmin to force it to the route I prefer, I also turn of voice comands as it is easier for people to ignore than when a female voice is telling you what to do
Hi Tom Tom have issued a map available as a download for £56, it only works on certain models. It wouldnt work on my old device (One IQ routes) so I purchase a Start 60 from Currys for £140 it has a huge 6'' screen, I then removed the europe map from the Start 60 and downloaded the Europe camper map which I got for £46 as I got a £10 credit when I registered the new Start 60.
I tried a demo run from my home to Chatsworth in car mode it takes me over a narrow bridge near home, in caravan mode it rerouted around the bridge so I hope it will work. You can set the overall length, weight, height, width and weight per axle and maximum speed.
for £190 to me this was a more affordable option rather than a stand alone device for about £350 and I was ready for a new sat nav anyway.

I have a Tomtom Satnav but would never trust it to guide me to a destination when towing!
Instead, I study a map first then use the Tomtom "Itinerary Planning" function to plot in the points I want to pass through.
This way, I dictate the route and the Satnav simply follows it, telling me where and when to turn off.
Never fails!

Which model TomTom has this function? My TTOne only has one 'via' point and won't accept road numbers for this either - it has to be a named town or village.

Always check on a map. Sat nav is not a replacement for a proper map.
