That's a clever tip. I use something stuck inside, can't actually remember what I use now. I have Bulldog clips in my camping box for other jobs, so will utilise your tip next time.

We just suck the air out with the pump we use to blow them up as it has suck and blow, also useful for packing things really small inside vacuum bags

A lot of valves have a non return flap inside, these require a clever clip as above.
