Hi Guys...

want to try out my Cobb soon....where are the Heat Beads, not seen any in yet, though the charcoal is coming on to the shelves.

Also, what is the difference between Heat Beads, and the shaped Charcoal Briquettes, that I have seen last year at Focus.  Where were the Heat Beads last year, and is that what they are called universally?....sorry to be so dim!

 Heat beads are the very best as they give out more heat , I get mine from Tesco or garden centers , they have a pic of Australia on the front . They are not out yet at tesco's hope that helps

flippin Nora............6 minutes, and someone replied.......quicker than engaged tone on land-line!  Will look for 'scottie-dog' on packets then - Australia outline, always reminds me of  a scottie dog!

OK just me then........Outline of map of Australia, looks like scottie-dog head.

Bit like outline map of Wales looks like pig's head.........was shown the likeness at school..........at least I may be able to get to one or the other, in an emergency, if flying in outer space, and getting a view from than angle.......cant get my smilies to work, but need to do a big grin.

Used my Cobb for the first time last weekend, now the neighbours know I am completely mad, the smell of barbeque in the snow!!

Managed Jacket Spuds and pizza for the kids.

I found heat beads at my local caravan shop, but paid £4.99, but have not found any in the supermarkets yet!

Going to try a roast joint next weekend!!

Should be fun.

Heat Beads are now in at my local John Lewis. £3.95 for 4Kg.

Hi Kara ........ not seen any yet this year (I stocked up well last year lol) Homebase do them £4.49 and Tesco £3.99

The Heat beads give off a more intensive heat, so don't need to use many (8 max) and will last longer ........... after you have finished cooking - remove beads with tong and drop in water - once soaked leave to dry and they can be reused - ie 4/5 beads + left overs lol

I would think it wont be long now before there on the shelves

Thanks cas.........am keeping my eyes open - barbecues coming in thick and fast, and odd pallett load of basic charcoal...they had briquettes at Focus, old last years stock......but will wait for heat beads from Aussie........better buy several while I can.

Thanks for tip of re-cycling the leftover beads, if not needed to heat the kettle, or warmth as evening draws in, will do that.

anyone thought of adding the odd lava rock, or lump or two from gas type fire (They are not coal).  Years ago, used to add the odd lump of iron into fire grate, or Rayburn, for extra non-burn-away heat......shows how old I am.

In theory, they might heat up quite considerably, but not actually burn away at all., adding heat,while not turning to ash???

Heat Beads all the way for us! We bought ours on-line from Woolworths. Ordered them last Thursday and they came this Monday. This was all thanks to kind people replying to a post from me last week. See
