i use a current monitor at home (sometimes! after the initial couple of weeks i just lost interest, you soon get to know which appliances consume the most power and its not exactly rocket science to work that out without a monitor ) i have a 4kw solar panel array on the roof and aswell as the monitor telling me how much i am producing at any time i also check now and again on how much i am using, plenty of current monitors on ebay though i think they only work on ac if you are hooked up and not dc if youre on battery power, but someone else WILL know better! there may also be some difficulty for most in making sure the clamps are connected to the right cable but i reckon it could be done if you really wanted PS you can sometimes get a FREE current monitor from your electricity provider! PPS kev, youre not trying to sell them are you - thats a strange signature for a forum user? " please advise the sender if you do not want to be contacted by email????"
