Don't know how we have got away with it for so many years DK
Think if you pumped the airbed up solid in the night then left it out in the sun all day you might have a problem but you wouldn't do that would you
The thought of an exploding sofa taking out half the campsite is a great picture, wonder if you could leave one near the noisy neighbours? Of course sofas are usually inflated hard.
FWIW an airbed takes up very little room in the car and can usually be replaced for not too much money if it goes done. Having said that ours do not usually last that long. Having had beds deflate onto cold hard ground means that we only use ours now in warm or hot weather. Just my two pennyworth.

Don't know how much it will be yet, however, I do not expect it to be cheap.
Good job I shan't need one for at least another 2 to 3 years.

Hi dk168.
You will be looking at the thick end of £600 for that Fridge, if you can get buy without 12v then the best Waeco Fridge for camping I would argue is the CK-40D.
A 38lt mains 230v only Fridge, that will work fine in hot climes, cost is around 200€ in Europe so about £170 although most UK dealers are asking £250 if you can find a dealer that will get one for you.
They are a fine Fridge, but £75 would buy you a similar size Table Top fridge from Makro etc that will do much the same job.
Having said that I am not sure that a UK bought Table Top fridge would cope as well as the Waeco fridge in hot climes.
Of course we are talking compressor fridges and not the cheapo absorption offerings.
For mobile use you could power the CK-40D of a 1000watt inverter via 12v, although that is probably best done direct from the car's battery rather than through the fag lighter socket.
I find it hard to understand why they don't make the CK-40D run of both 230v ac and or 12/24v but I guess they do this so not to loose out on sales of the CF and CFX range.
I looked at the Mobicool B40, and although it is a compressor fridge, when on 12v it only works as a Thermoelectric unit, which is a compromise to far in my book.
Easy for me to say as we have a Waeco CoolFreeze CF25 for when only 12/24v is available and what a cracking little compressor fridge that is.
I have looked at lots of options including the Waeco CoolFreeze CF25 etc but they have been out of my price range as it would seriously cut into my spending money (I wish I was going in my mobile home as life would of been easier! But she isn't quite ready for another 6month road trip) so I have decided to go for the Argos table top as it can deal with warmer temperatures than some of the others. It is a little bulky but I think its the best I am going to get in my price range. I am lucky I am not needing to keep things cold while I am on the move as I will be static for at least the first 4months in the tent but then move on but when I do stop it will be for at least couple weeks at a time.

Hi drees.
The Table Top fridge makes a lot of sense, but like you mention the operating ambient Tempreture has to be looked into.
The Makro fridge was only good to 0DegC at an ambient temp upto +32DegC which put me of a little. but I am pretty sure such a fridge would be OK.
Having said that most folk on here who have used a Table Top fridge in hot climes, have all reported that they work fine.
And I don't know if all manufactures provide specification down to this kind of detail, I can just imagine having the conversation in Currys when you ask the 12 year old sales assistant the question regarding ambient working Tempreture of an £80 Table Top fridge.
Yes somehow I think it would flumox the everyday salesman! I did contact Argos first to ask the weight and also what temperatures it works best in. They said its 17kilo and works well when temperatures between 16 and 32 degrees. I also asked if can be run on electric hook on a campsite and they said yes with the relevant converter but not suitable to run on car 12v. They did say it may be a little noisey but it is on £79!
I would of prefered a Waeco CoolFreeze CF25 but money says no! Saying that I am going to drive through to York to get an actual look at the fridge before I order one so that I can actually see if it will fit in car - having the measurements is all well and good but I rather see tan visualise!

As pointed out earlier a UK supplied domestic fridge is not intended for use in a campsite/portable situation so you cannot expect a shop to advise you of its suitability of use in that situation particularly outside the UK. All you can really do it to take the advice on this thread that a domestic fridge is ok for camping provided a bit of care is taken in transportation & should be your most cost effective solution.
Our table top ( three years ago from Curry's), has made ice when the ambient temperature has been 40 degrees ... and is also pretty quiet ... we sleep next to it (canvas wall), with no problem whatsoever.
As Tentz says, pretty pointless to ask a UK salesman whether it's suitable for use in another country ... but then the fridge will have been built abroad ... probably in a hotter place than ours! ... and tested there.
