Hi!

Just looking at our kit for the coming year, and wondered what caravan levellers people use and would recommend.

We currently have a 'basic' leveller, by which I mean a 'wedge' with a chock, and quite frankly it can be a pain getting the darned thing to remain on the wedge where I want it to be! I see all sorts on the market from the Milenco aluminium leveller to a three height rigid 'wedge'.

We have a Bailey Pegasus Ancona, single axle, mtplm is 1499kgs.

Can anyone recommend a decent leveller??! Should be a simple decision but too much choice!!!!

We have a twin axle and use wooden blocks, either one or two as necessary.  we have a couple of wedges, but never need them.

We just use a few planks of wood stacked on top of each other. Never needed anything else.

We have a bulldog leveller that you wrench up using a socket. It is great on hard ground but can be difficult to get under the wheel on soft ground. We have to park the caravan wheel on a couple of wooden blocks to raise it up enough to slide the leveller underneath. It is also VERY heavy - I assume that the aliminium one would be better in that respect.

We only paid £20 second hand for it. Not sure if it is worth the price tag of nearer £100 new though.

We have a Milenco leveller (currently on offer at £79.95 at Waudbys) and can recommend it as excellent.

It is easy to fit and we have used it on both a TEC and a Hymer single axle caravan (the Hymer being quite heavy), even our 15 year old son has been able to use it and get the van level.

It's quite bulky but not heavy (as its aluminium) and it comes with a decent carry bag.

Well worth the money and it just takes the stress out of being on a sloping pitch. You put the van where you want it, slide this into position then just wind it up until it's level. It's a great piece of kit.

Read this with interest. Nice to see a users review of these as I've yet to meet anyone who has one, but they do look like a good idea.

We also have the Milenco aluminium leveller, and are very impressed. Easy to use and clean. You could also use a drill with right size wrench fitting on it to take the manual labour out of it, not that it's hard work just repetitive both up and down. You can still use the Alko wheel lock with it. Definitely would recommend at above price or less if possible.

Having just had a stressful experience of levelling a van on a slope with a caravan that has an Alko lock, I'm even more tempted by getting one of these. But I have a question.... On a significant slope can this leveller work? I can't draw a picture so I'll try to explain what I mean.... If the base is resting on a slope, does it make the 'cradle' that the wheel sits in sit at an awkward angle and therefore making it unstable? I'm sure it's fine on easy slopes, but there have been occasions when we've had to raise one wheel up by a fairly large amount.

I made a leveler out of a sheet of 18mm plywood. I has a variety of heights from 18mm to 90 mm and is dead easy to make and use.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
