Does anybody have any experience of an inflatable canoe.
We went to the Dordogne last year and hired a canoe so Ive had the idea to take our own as I cannot fit a full size canadian canoe on the motorhome I thought of buying an inflatable one but was worried about all the rocks in the shallow river ripping the bottom of it.
No worries, I actually have one of these . I find it fine for the limited use we use it for. It inflates quickly, is not too large and perfect for splashing about for some fun. Don't forget your life jackets and helmets too.
Yes, Sea-Eagles are very good. We have two Sevylors, a Yukon and an adapted Sport 'Wildwater' .... they do up to Grade three or four whitewater and are very good.
If you can afford the upgrade, I'd really recommend it ... the cheaper models are designed for still or slow moving rivers ... the excitement difference for the odd stretch of fast moving water is huge!
Also, beware the inflatable seats for long trips ... can be quite sore on the back ... seats with straps to support the back are much better.
You may want to upgrade your paddles from the very basic ones that come with the kit.
We started with cheap Sevvys and have upgraded three times ... it's worth doing it from the start, then it costs less in the long run!
Thanks for all your advice everybody I have been offerd a Sevylor Hudson 2+1 Kayak that looks upto the job as it will probably only be used in shallow rivers.
Any thoughts on this choice feel free the voice your oppinions thanks one and all.
The Hudson is a very decent choice ... has strapped back support seats ... be aware that tree adults would find it very, very tight!
Two and a small kid might be OK
