I am off to France for up to 6months mainly in the loire Valley region.
I am going to be using my new tent (in the past I have used my old motorhome so tenting for such a long period is new to me). I am looking into what sleeping arrangement I should have! It has been suggested a xl xamp bed with a SIM as an inflatable bed might not be suitable in warmer climates.
Any suggestions/advice? Which would be best and brands?

Help!

Much as I like the build quality of my Outwell Laguna XL camp bed, it was not the easiest to put up when it was new as the fabric was very taut and required a lot of effort in order to secure the bars at the end.

However, it got easier with each use.

If I were to get another camp bed, I would opt for the Outwell Posadas or the Kampa Dream, both with similar set up mechanism, in the biggest size.

For SIM, I believe Therm-a-rest is the best that money can buy. However, they are expensive, and there are alternatives that cost less and rated as good value for money by many.

Such as the offerings from Alpkit like their Wideboy, Vango has also been mentioned time and time again.

If the SIM is to be put on top of the camp bed, then one should be able to get away with a cheaper alternative.

However, if one is to sleep directly on the ground on top a SIM, then get the thickest one you can afford.

All IMHO, of course.

Good luck, whatever you decide to get.

Many thanks for that, I had a look at your suggestion last night for the Outwell Laguna XL but each stockist was out of stock with indication that it has been discontinued which is shame as it did have good reviews.
I will have a look at your other suggestions - thanks

Checkout the Aerobed's, by no means the cheapest air bed, but very comfy......

Have a look at fishing bed chairs, very comfy if you have the room.

Any airbed, regardless of how much you pay, has the potential to leak, split or go down.
I have the Towsure camp bed and find it very quick and easy to put up and fold away (that is usually my 11 year olds job when setting up)
I have back and joint problems and find it extremely comfortable and always sleep well when using it.

Hi all! I have been still looking at options for camp bed plus a sim as have ruled out inflatable mattress after advice on here but am still trying to figure out which camp bed and sim to go for! Some of the suggestions have looked great except been out of stock at places looked at and others have been way out of my budget and car space I have looked at the fishing beds but are bulky and phew you must be rich to go fishing! I have just found the quencha camp bed that looks good has anyone else seen this one/used it?

Hi, last year we bought the Sportura SIM which a few people on here recommended from Costco, I think they are about £20 from there but dearer elsewhere- Sportura. We have now bought the cheap camp beds from Go Outdoors to use with them and tried at home overnight and very comfy.17
