Topic: Extra hanging loops/hooks in tent

My tent has only 1 loop in the centre of tent to hang a lamp from. All the poles are on the exterior of the tent.

Any wonderful ideas on how to put extra hooks/loops onto tent without damaging it/creating water leaks!! ?

I purchased the UFO 28LED light and tested it the other day and I need loads more light as large tent, so need extra hooks. (it would be nice to hang my fairy lights up too!!)

In our old Hartford XL we used a clip on light that took a normal household bulb in a tent a 110 W equivalent (11 watt) bulb illuminates the lot

With my old tent, the Khyam Freelander, I used 2 bungee straps to create extra hanging space for light weight items such as travelling towels, tea towel, kitchen paper etc...

I used one on each side of the loop for the inner tent, and hook the other end at the central hanging point for tent light, as can be seen in the pic below.

I create extra hanging space nowadays inside my Hypercamp Escala 4 by using hooks, bungee cords, velcro straps and/or cable ties. I can hang a lot more as the anchoring points are on the steel frame and main centre pole.

My old TT and frame tent used to be brilliant for hanging stuff on as the frame was inside...I used hooks made from an old wire clothes dryer and hung everything(within reason) on the frame

In My Icarus 500 when I use EHU I run the cable for my bulkhead light up behind the hanging toggles for the inner tents...and tie it off just above the storage pockets that separate the two doors to the sleeping pods...This gives enough light for the living area and the pods...

The Icarus has four tension straps in the living area..I hang towels and such from these to dry off..

I have an old home made camp table for my cooker..on the ends of the wooden slats I screwed in some of those pot hooks(Each end) that hold various stuff from cooking utensils to rubbish bags...

I think..unless you have a tent with extra loops for hanging stuff inside you will be hard pressed for hanging space without compromising the integrity of the tent.....

Interesting question and something I've wondered myself. I don't see any way of sewing in extra loops without compromising the waterproofness, so I wouldn't even go there. You could use bull clips or clothes pegs to attach the light sideways across the top of the sleeping pod if you were able to add a loop of guy rope to both ends of the light.

Bulldog stationery clips on any edge/seem that stands proud of the surface?
Otherwise, you could think laterally, and light from the bottom up ... i.e. have a light source at floor level ... as many lamps in rooms do ...

I misread the post and now realise it's a UFO light. I assume it's round. I have put my UFO light in the top mesh pocket of the tent...worked well assuming your tent has pockets.

Asda, tesco etc, the 'giant clothes pegs' they keep shoes/slippers in pairs with, they have a handy hook built in, and the 'inside' of the jaws are normally rubbery, so they grip well too!

How about super strong Neodymium magnets, would they be powerful enough to get a hold on the exterior frame poles and take some weight?
