As I keep buying more camping stuff I am coming to the inevitable conclusion that I need a trailer to move it around the country.
I'm thinking a 5ft x 3ft trailer with a height extension kit should do the job.
Anyone got experience they can share?

certainly couldn't stretch to a new one at that cost, might need to look at second hand.

When I was spec'ing my trailer, I looked for one that would give me at least double the volume of my roof box which is quoted as 415L.

I opted for a Brenderup 1150s with side extensions which effectively doubles its original capacity to about 945L, and added an ABS lid which provided even more capacity.

I chose the Brenderup 1150s and not the bigger 1250s as the former is more compact and I can just about fit it in my garage.

I would struggle to clear enough space in the garage for a 1250s.

The general advice to get a trailer bigger than what one thinks he/she needs is definitely true when it comes to getting a trailer.

Yep we went for a 5ft x 3ft 7" (150cm x 110cm) back in 2009 great little trailer with a roofrack so we added a roofbox and trailer tongue box to it.

It would be nice to have somthing larger, but it does the job and to be fair at £800 it was definatley money well spent.

Like dk68 our trailer is stored in the garage, and does not take up too much space.

Photo in gallery.

That depends on the site Gordon!!

Some sites state a really low price per night...Then charge you for every little extra they can think of...

I have had sites quote a price then when you turn up you find they are charging extra £2-3 per night for your car/ trailer/ cook tent/awning/dog etc etc...

Always best to check....

The other extras I can just about live with..But to charge you for your car(Which most of us need to get to the site)Is just taking the P.....

The bigger the trailer you can afford, the better.
The inevitability of camping is that year by year you increase the number of items you want to take with you.
You're right ... you may find a second hand one at a much more reasonable price ... just beware va really heavy, home made, wood and iron framed job ... they can add a lot of weight, compared to the Brenderup/Erde type.
Also, as mentioned ... one with carry cars so that you can fir a roof box on top, makes for a neat looking and reasonably aerodynamic solution.
On the continent, there is never any extra charge for a trailer.

Some sites do specific an extra charge for a trailer, therefore, read the small prints!

I tow a caravan with a classic Mini so you should be able to tow a small trailer with a 1.4 Fiesta.

I have found a 2nd hand Titan T4OO trailer 150cm x 110cm with side extentions and top cover so have decided to go with that. Slightly bigger may have been better but then I'd run into storage and cost problems.
Only problem is I have somewhat promised my OH that I won't be buying any more stuff for a while..............
