Big on Comfort, Big on Strength Award-winning innovative outdoor brand Outwell has introduced a new range of chic new furniture that has enhanced weight bearing capabilities.
Have you seen these? Have you got these? Are they any good, east to set up, transport etc?
Expensive but takes up to 150kg which is 23stone so overload unlikely. Most camping chairs have 100kg max load, under 16stone which is why they break. Only trouble with these is legs that will sink into soft ground.
These chairs look fantastic and seem to pack up quite thin, however, they are pretty expensive. If they do pack as flat as they appear to do then they might be worth the outlay for a chair that looks very comfortable.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Can anyone recommend a good shop where I can try a range of outdoor camping chairs? I do want to sit in them and make sure I have a comfortable but durable chair. I live in South Northamptonshire.
There are several branches of Go Outdoors in your area & you can unfold & sit on chairs etc. You will need to buy a discount card for £5 but its worth it if you are spending a bit.
Thanks for posting, AdminBob. The word "big" put me off, as our chairs have to travel in our tiny "bathroom". I don't think there'd be room for the steps, grey water cannister, tarp poles and bunch of flowers with two of these armchairs!
Check out the Vango range of chairs, they do a couple of versions of the umbrella type folding chairs that take upto 25st in weight, and are very comfortable and fairly compact when folded.
We bought a couple at the start of this season and are very pleased with them, both fit easily under one of the front benches, and they come with their own carry bag. I think we paid about £35 each for them, but well worth the money for these sturdy made comfy padded chairs.

Hello again,
Many thanks for the full range of suggestions. We have time now to have a thorough look at these options before we pick up our van in the new year.
There doesn't seem to be anything 'new' in the design of these chairs...only the price! I have had two chairs of similar design for years and bought them off ebay for £20 each.
The only difference I can see is that my headrest is removable and adjustable. They do fold down fairly flat so are fairly easy to find room in the car. I have not had a problem with the feet sinking into soft ground...the feet are more flat than they look in the photos.
One problem I do have with mine is that the front edge of the seat, being thin and stiff, can dig into the backs of your legs especially for shorter people. A cushion helps in this respect. Apart from that I find them comfortable.
