I bought a Roberts Unologic last year for camping and it is fantastic. The radio is rechargeable and receives all FM and DAB stations without the aerial extended.
It may appear to be a wee bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
Yep, radios have come a long way, somthing like the Pico+ would be good to have, FM as well as DAB of course and also ready for the new DAB+ service when it comes to the UK, DAB+ already operating in other Euro countries were UK type DAB does not work.
The ability to pause/rewind and record programs to SD card is also handy to have.
And I believe they also do a model that has wi-fi feature as well, although not a lot of much use if camping out in the sticks, unless you can tether it to your mobile phone.
For me I just stick with my 15 year old icle Sony SW1 pocket WorldBand radio, until they switch the analogue FM signal of, which they keep threatning to do.
If you are going somewhere hilly in sparsely populated parts of the UK then you may pick up no useful DAB or FM channels at all, in which case you need a radio with MW and/or LW.
On the west coast of Scotland, for example, it's quite common for the only FM stations available to be Irish ones.
BTW, I don't think there is any certainty yet about whether the UK will get DAB+ or not...
Another vote for a Sony, I chose the ICF-SW11 a couple of years ago, after a lot of checking reviews.
I'd have like more SW coverage, but I couldn't justify the cost.
I dig the advantages of digital radio, but DAB doesn't cut the mustard for me, and now if I can get a good 3G signal I can listen to internet radio and podcasts on my iDevices.
I do not know its ability to pick up a particular radio though.
