Mucker, that's mine, but with double the cable. I'm told size does matter, occasionally.

Mike ..I am of the same mind, I really like the portable alarm and think the movement of trying to force open the box would trigger the alarm. As you say the damage could be done to the roofbox lock??

The one Mucker has given in his link would do the job and then some but its £25,,ok a good investment if I consider the replacement costs of sleeping bags etc.

Still in a quandary which way to go..

Just ordered one of the portable alarms that Francais recommended and will put roofbox on and give it a trial run at home.

Wouldn't that give the impression that you had something of value in there, hence the extra security?
If its just things like clothes and sleeping bags could you take them out then your get to your stop over and place them in the car footwells etc, and leave the box unlocked, bit like lorry drivers do with empty trailers.

Vango, be interested in how you get on.

Camping, all that faff means the scrotes win, whether they rob us or not. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Now, if there's a roofbox version of this...

Nice one..I still prefer the one where flames come out the side of the car and burn the legs off the twats..

They should be made to sit naked in one of those slatted chairs and wacked from below with a carpet beater.

That would make sense but it is quite a large roofbox on a small Fiesta. If I were to empty it ,it would just about fill the car. Its sleeping bags, pillows, carpet + footprint, Holdall with clothing and lots of other lightweight bits and pieces. My intention is to use the roof box to its max but well within the weight limits. The heavy items such as tent, gas bottle, cooker etc etc will be in the small sized boot. May even have to fold down one or all of the rear seats..Just depends where and how long we are going for.

Good point! You need a bigger car.

Hopefully you will be able to see your car from your room and be able to keep an eye on it! It's usually the cars parked in the darkest corners of the car park that get done over first.

Well I just downsized from a Ford Focus Cmax 1.8 to a Fiesta 1.2 and its taking a bit of getting used to.
Its a great little car and saving a fortune on fuel and the roofbox should help make up for lack of space in the car.

I agree about parking in the dark corners,I always try to park at least under a light..
