Hi

I am looking to purchase a small camping toilet. I need something compact, as we have little space left in the car. I have looked at "boginabag" and "highlander portable toilet" can anyone advise on the better or any other suggestions?

I did loads of research on this as we have a 6 year old and don't fancy a long hike in the middle of the night.

We too are limited for space, however we found the luggable loo was the best option (a bucket with a toilet seat & lid) We line the bucket with a thick bin liner and put a small amount of wood cat litter in the bottom, this absorbs the liquid and reduces any odour.

When packing in the car we store items like firelighters, tent pegs, mallets in the bucket to try and maximise space.

We only use this for number 1's in emergencies (most nights it doesn't even get used.

Hi
We use the highlander portable toilet for weekends and find it ok and it packs down flat so takes up little room. We also have a Kampa khazi which is a decent toilet quite big but you can pack things inside it for transportation

I have the Highlander and find it very stable and easy to use. Ideal when space is at a premium.
Have also used Travel Johns which are great but work out quite expensive for regular use.

Go for THIS, and use for No 1's, with bin liner and wood based cat litter, as previously advised. For the car, fill up with bits and bobs..... or the gas bottle! :-)

The 335 is even more compact (and you can carry the two halves separately, so not a huge and bulky item to stow away).

This one is similar to the small Thetford and a bit cheaper. Quality just as good as Thetford, IMO.

The kampa khazi is brilliant!

We bought it to prevent night time outings when our boys were 2 & 4. We all ended up using it in the end and friends of ours have since gone on to buy them for their tents too.

I was initially concerned re: hygiene but to be prefectly honest if it is just night time wee's we empty it down the toilet every morning. Clean the bowl with boiling water and zoflora and then give it a wipe with an antibacterial wipe. Job done.

It is really sturdy and a good height for little ones but still strong enough for adults to use too. When in transit we store the bucket and lid in a seperate bag and turn the main grey toilet base upside down and store the gas bottle in there to maximise use of space.

Great bit of kit for the price
