We bought a 2nd hand caravan last summer (25 years old) and the mattresses need replacing.
Any tips on where the best and most economical places are in the UK?
Amny tips on what I should be looking out for to make sure we get a comfy night's sleep?
Thanks

Lots of online foam suppliers who will cut foam to fit your covers if they are still good and dont need replacing. If you are looking for a full complete set of upholstry including covers, then try Tockfield uphostry, they specialise in caravan and boat makeovers, with curtains made to match if needed.

They can either do a postal service, or offer a free pitch in their paddock in the grounds of their work shop at Brimmington in Derbyshire, just about a mile north of Alfreton, and are easily reached off the M1/ A38, whilst they complete the work whilst you wait.

They have an extensive range of fabrics to choose from, as well as different types of foam fillings in samples that you can try. They also refill your existing covers with new foam if thats what you prefare. A first class job by a well established firm, and they are happy for you to just browse their showrooms or buy made to measure foam inserts if you prefare to do the job yourself.

Loads of ebay suppliers. I got a 3inch thick double topper with cover for about £45. It just goes on top of existing old cushions & works well. It had a bit of a 'chemical' smell when first unrolled but its ok after airing outside on a dry day.

I've just bought a 4" thick medium density memory foam mattress. Although it is really comfortable, it can't be used without a normal foam under neath if on top of a hard surface. I bought the 4" because I wanted to use it as a stand alone mattress, but this won't work. I guess that's why they call them a mattress topper.

Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

Cheapest solution if your existing cushions are tired but intact is a topper on top.

:D MY other half has been camping since a boy - he assured me that is the er 'technical' term for the mattresses that go into making up sofas and later beds in caravans, you may be surprised to know that even Google recognises the word biscuits as mattresses :) #justsayin

No matter how carefully you eat your biscuits you will always end up with crumbs in the bed. Even if you are nowhere near your bed!
