We use silk liners in our sleeping bags but only use them when backpacking. Its a down quilt for us when basecamping, can't remember the togs but two quiolts that pop together depending on the temp. Silk can have great insulating properties but not really in itself, as it doesn't trap air within itself but as a base layer it traps a layer of air next to the skin and also between your next layer very well
