Well after searching and going to local camp shop about a canopy/ extension for our cleveland 6 it does not look like there is one. So im after a tent to cook in and to store the kitchen and stuff. i dont want anything massive, just a basic bit of shield from wind and cover from our wet summers. any ideas?
I was thinking of a beach tent/shelter just have to have the cooker low level.
I definately wouldn't consider that bike store, it's not wind shedding at all, not stable enough unless it's pitched up against a wall or something sturdy, and you can't always guarantee that.
There's a few other options. I would strongly suggest the tarp and windbreak because you probably have windbreaks anyway and a tarp with two king poles is a seriously useful bit of kit anyway.
I would recommend the DD Tarp 3X3m, but the Quechua one is just as good with multiple and re-enforced guying points. Harvest any pole sections from old tents, or buy a couple of extra king poles as four poles mean you can be so much more flexible in how you pitch the tarp. (It's very satisfying playing with tarps too)
Then there's something like the Vango Event tent, or the Outdoor Revolution Utility tent, but you might find there's an extra charge for this.
Lastly you can buy a windbreak with a built in covered section, I think usually known as a canopied windbreak. I found one on ebay and I believe they're big enough to put a table and chairs under.
If you want something just big enough for a kitchen stand and a cool box, try this quick erect Khyam. Though it is intended as a toilet and shower tent, it is just as good for a small kitchen.
I use a basic toilet tent for cooking in and have had no problems. I have a kitchen stand for the stove which is in the middle of the tent and away from the walls. The door is open when cooking which provides plenty of ventilation.
Just reading the the thread ... I think the cabanon has just joined my wish list although I just bought a out well Oklahoma day tent thats going to be my cooking/dining tent for my longer camps
Well just looked in go outdoors mag, and there hi gear toilet tent is £40. But I've been looking at pics of tarps and they look pretty cool, although I don't know if I would be able to get it right. Can you attach to front or side of tent to make a canopy?
I have a 'changing tent' from Argos which stood up well in Cornwall last summer (flash floods!), it was on sale at half price so would have been rude not to This is now my weekend kitchen and I have a eurohike quick pitch family tent for longer stays.
Not been charged for either of these yet but I try to avoid sites which charge extras as having 3 children can more than double the pitch fee on these type of sites.
Its a brilliant size for cooking and storing kitchen paraphernalia in. Stands up really well to the wind and packs up really small. Its easy to erect alone as well.

Nice about-turn, nickrachel! :-)
They really are a doddle!!....
Front (to open canopy):
Side (admittedly, with a door canopy)
The limits are non-existent, from what I can see. Very versatile.
I have a large (4m x 3m) that I'm not actually planning on "using" this weekend, but as it's been waiting a month for me to pay it some attention, I may have a play with it on Saturday, and see how it fairs attaching directly to the tent poles, so keep your eyes on This thread next week. Hopefully I'll have some new pics! :-)

I have a quechua base seconds that I've used as a utility tent. It's quite big which is why I didn't suggest it in the first place. Sadly I've no pics of my own but I've found a similar set up on this thread
