Can anyone suggest the system we would need to be able to watch tv in for example Southern Spain, not necessarily the most expensive. We have a motorhome and would like an automatic one that sits on the roof.

Have a look at Robb's Satellite, for info on Dish size required for Spain and Europe etc.

http://robssatellitetv.webs.com/

The launch of Astra2F late last year, will now make the recieving of UK satellite stuff, more difficult than it has been in the past.

It's starting to look like internet wi-fi based TV is the way to for watching TV in Europe, although the chances of getting a decent wi-fi signal at your pitch is not always going to be possible.

We will be sticking with our 80cm Dish for use down on the Cote d Azur in July this year, but I am half expecting to not being able to pick up the Satellite, although I will give it my best shot. having installed satellite Dish's for a living in my past life, I know when I am beat!.

If your talking in terms of normal UK (English speaking) channels such as Freesat and $ky then even a 1metre dish will only get you as far as Barcelona (if you’re lucky).

Having said that, If you have some of the $ky encrypted (pay) channels such $ky Sport for example then I believe that you can still get that by re-tuning to the southern beam.

Alternatively, you can aim your dish at another satellite Astra 1 at 19.2° east for example and pick up some foreign language channels. – How’s your French and German?

At this point, I start to get out of my depth so read all you can on the "Satelliteforcaravans" web site.

Hi Vin Blanc.
An irony is that you can pick up "BBC World News TV" from Astra1 at 19East, in most of Spain and France etc, with just a 60cm Dish, problem is you get all the World News apart from what's going on back in UK.
