Been answered a million times already I guess, but im looking for a two burner stove (grill not essential - car camping though so room not really an issue).

Looking for one that will run off a small calor bottle, and wont take hours to boil a kettle if you catch my drift - anyone got any suggestions, there seems to be loads around all similarly priced!

Was considering the campigaz chef (amoungst others) - any good?

We have a Hi-Gear double burner and grill,it is exactly the same stove as  the Gelert one,and one or two others on the market. The rings are quite good, but I have found with nearly all camping stoves the grill is not very efficient.I run ours off a 4.5 KG calour bottle (butane).but it will run quite happily off propane also.

If you look on e-bay,there are loads for sale, also,if you look in some of the discount shops such as B&M Bargains (if you have one close by) they start to sell bits of camping gear at this time of year including stoves on occassion.Last year they had a double burner for about £20.Also the suitcase type for about £8 which are idea lfor boiling a kettle or a one pan meal, but nt much good for a family.

I can only say our Campingaz double burner and grill is over 40 years old and still going strong. Campingaz tend to have a higher btu rating for their burners and tend to heat things quicker the grill works well to. All you need is the cooker, calor regulator and bottle. Regulators are specific to the bottle not the cooker ie calor butane regulator for the blue bottle, calor propane regulator for the orange bottle plus for safety you cant fit the wrong one to the bottle

campingaz lagon. Two burners, very fast, very compact-complete with side's and lid. If you look around these can be got very cheaply. Basic but good quality. Nice two burner stove.

I bought one of those B&M ones last year, and wish I'd saved my money. Took ages to heat any amount of water and the grill was useless. Still looking out for a good option.

Anyone tried one of these? http://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/portable-gas-stove-254176

manseman,I have that type of suitcase stove bought from B&M,it works well enough for what it is,and the gas canisters for it are £3.95 for 4.I must say we only use it for boiling the kettleon when we are travelling,or arriving or leaving site when pitching up or have de-camped.

Hmmm...........

Must admit as a little scheptical on the burner rating - 3.2kw now seems a little optamistic to me, especially as the more expensive ones dont seem to be that high

Time will tell, but wont be in any major rush to cook anything too quickly or heat water up superfast - thats what the travel kettle is for!

Quite, not gas powered so you don't need a bottle or maybe 2 in the event that one is not enough. So much cheaper to run. They can be got for 90quid but will pay in the long term.
