Hey,

We have borrowed a two ring burner every time we have been camping over the last 8 years or so (which is quite a few times!)

It's now time to purchase our own. Any recommendations for decent ones?

Space in the car will be an issue now we have two children to something small would be good - although two burners still a minimum.

Thanks in advance

You could go for two single burners that take a gas cannister, that means you can fit the cases into spare spaces in the car and you can flexibly use either one for tea/coffee making or two for a full dinner.

Well we cook every day. Two burners seems to be about right (one for pasta, other for mince etc.)

I don't know about budget really, £40? Maybe more for something super good

We have a coleman duel fuel stove...as powerful as they come and can be run on unleaded petrol or coleman rule. Not cheap, but a fantastic bit of kit (once you get used to it). Will out boil any gas stove IMHO.

Coleman all the way. Brilliant. Cheap to run, compact, bombproof.

Duel Fuel .... Unleaded Petrol or Coleman duel fuel (which is naptha, so all things can be used)...I would recommend Aspen 4 fuel whichis cheaper than coleman fuel and is cleaner than petrol.

Petrol is an advantage if you run out...its easy to find a petrol station, rather than a open camping shop.

I've got a dual fuel, it is a really good cooker but you do need to be careful especially with 2 kids, it can be a bit of a child magnet wanting to have a go at pumping the air into the tank. The main problem you'll have with a standard 2 burner stove is the size of the gas bottle you need to take with you.

We're in the same situation as you, and have just bought a cheap but slim suitcase-style double burner based on the Go Systems Dynasty Trio. Got it from Go Oudoors for about £30. Before I bought it I wrote a little review of budget stoves as part of my own research which you may be of help.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

And thanks to others, I'll certainly look into the Coleman things. Like you say, the gas bottle is pretty huge

Another vote for the Coleman dual fuel. We've had ours for 10 years and its as good as the day we bought it (not as clean though!)

We've always used unleaded in ours...performs flawlessly.

I think we paid £60 in 2003 for it. Nowadays they seem to be £100+ but they look the same as ours and therefore bombproof.

The show in caldicote had one on offer for £50 I think...which is a steal.

Can't recommend this stove enough and it completely out performs the gas stoves all our mates use.

Regards
Brewber
