Hi everyone

I've just bought some delta pegs as well a range of rock type pegs. My question is do i use the delta pegs only for the guy ropes and if so should they be driven into the ground flush like you would do with tent pegs?

Thank you for advice 17

This is how to use the Delta Ground Anchors, which as you say are for guy ropes.

Hope it helps.

Brought a smile to my face that did - I made that a couple of years ago. Glad to see it's still going round!

The second best camping tool I ever got was the long handled Delta peg puller off Rob.

The best was the pegs.

price is a bit of an issue for me so I was wondering if the nylon ones would be ok for an icarus 500. I had a rather scary night with the dogs last week with the wind and kicked myself for not buying them last month when the wages went in. I was thinking of ordering about 10-15 of them is that reasonable?

I hope its not a dim question but I have no knowledge of pegs whatsoever.

with thanks weegill

You only need them for the guys, and only the main ones at that unless you are being very cautious.

Nylon are fine for most grounds unless very stoney and even then they will give it a good go but you might bend a peg or two so it's up to you

awe, thank you for responding so quick. I think I will get the nylon and save up gradually for the steel. I have rock pegs for inbetween cash spends.

IMHO, it is not necessary to use Delta pegs on all the guys, just the load-bearing ones usually attached to the poles for the tent.

For non-load bearing ones such as guys for holding the vents open, they do not need Deltas.

For my Hypercamp Escala 4 Dutch pyramid canvas tent that has over 30 pegging points for the main tent canvas alone, I only use 9 Delta pegs, the rest I use 9in angle steel pegs.

I would advise 6 pegs for the Icarus 500 tent alone without any extension/canopy/awning/etc., 2 for each of the poles on either side as a minimum.

It is always a good idea to carry a variety of pegs to suit different ground conditions.

Deltas will suit soft to normal grounds, however, they are not very good with very hard grounds.

The T-bar rock pegs that Rob of Delta Groundanchors sells along with yellow nylon Delta pegs are solidly made, and excellent value for money for pegs made out of solid stainless steel. I carry a few in case of hard grounds.

Consider also the extra long peg extractor and the Delta Dog Tether while you are shopping for Delta pegs, as they are excellent for their intended purposes.
