Hello, can anyone recommend a two tread caravan step with handrail. Really nead that extra bit of assistance what with hip and knee replacements. Alternatively has anyone tried the grab rail which also folds across your door for added security. I would be frightened to pull on it in case I damaged the van. Thank you

The hand rails that mount on the caravan are pretty solid and probably safer than a handrail mounted on the step which would rely on solid base for the step and you not pulling the step over by putting too much weight on the top of the handrail and it therefore acting as a lever.

Not sure about the security aspect though as if anyone wanted to get into a caravan they could soon pop a window open or force the door.

Try checking out steps for static caravans as some has rails.You can adapt them so the rail comes off and the step will fit in the van.Maybe a bit bigger but a lot safer than a narrow step..

we have a dukdalf mambo step and handrail for the wife who has arthritis in her knees and hips. She says it is fabulous. Bit expensive but a good sturdy strong step. cheers gary

These are ok if you have a smooth surface to stick them to - I have one to take to the shower block with me... but it wouldn't grip on the outside of my caravan as it has a dimpled surface.

Thanks for all your advice. Have been looking at the Dukdalf Mambo but am unsure about the handrail. Would have liked to try first but everywhere seems out of stock anyway. I think there is a corner in the market missing here. I bet there would be a demand for this type of step. Found this, will give them a ring tomorrow. I had a Dukdalf one when I had my replacement knee. Very bulky to transport. Pleased to say I don't need it now.
