Does anyone use a 'crank up' satellite dish/system in their caravan?
We have bought our first caravan - just changed from a motorhome. We used to have an automatic satellite dish on the motorhome which was great, but will need to install some sort of satellite system in the caravan. The automatic ones are extremely expensive compared to the crank up models. But, which is best? Is it as easy to find the satellite using the crank up one as they say it is? Don't want to use a tripod model. Any comments would be useful, thanks.
hi, not sure what you mean by a crank up model so not sure how helpful I can be but this is a thumbs up for the tripod model - i'm relatively new to all the gear but even I used this without any problems. I got the gear for (including signal finder) for less than <£50, abd use my old sky box...
I've seen some that are fitted directly to the top of the caravan (like the tv aerial) but you have to align it yourselves. Think they are call crank-up models. I would be worried that the tripod model would fall over in the wind, or get stolen. Wouldn't want to keep taking it in overnight.
have to agree with Vin Blanc... the tripod for my dish has holes for the longer type peg but they fix it down securely..... recent 80mph winds which destroyed my awning did not move the tripod at all , although the dish was misaligned afterwards !! :-)
