Anyone got any advice on how to strengthen the poles. First time after purchasing 2 months ago, on a wet day, freak gust came along (not a windy day at all) and buckled one of the joints.

Coleman and Go Outdoors no help what so ever, in fact I am so disgusted with their service, I have vowed not to buy any Coleman product or anything from Go Outdoors. Coleman offer a 2 year warranty but say the poles are not covered ?!? Go Outdoors did not offer any help other than referring me to LSR to have the repairs done but i would have to pay for it myself !

Anyway, enough ranting and back to the issue, any advice guys? They are steel poles approximately 20mm diameter and with the bungee cord running through the middle. The joint that buckled is where the poles bend slightly to create the domed shape.

Best advice I think is to take the advice you've been given and pay to get the repair done.

warranties are against faulty workmanship, not freak weather. It's like asking for a new car because someone crashed into your old one.

I'm not saying you did this, but it is worth saying that it is so important to fully and properly peg stuff out every time. I've seen several tents, extensions and gazebos wrecked over the years because people thought the weather was set too fair to bother with all the guys, only to have a sudden wind come along and reduce them to scrap.
