Experience tells me you will not have enough speed on your connection to watch live TV. You are better off downloading stuff off Iplayer before you go on holiday or taking a selection of DVD's. If your kids are used to a spot of TV at home they may feel put out if they have none on holiday. Maybe you won't need it maybe they will. At least you have thought ahead.

We have tried Sky Go whilst away and it wasn't successful as it didn't stream very well, however programmes downloaded from either bbc or itv iplayer worked fine.
We take laptops and an external hard drive with a library of films to watch in an evening if we chose to do that. It's not for every day, but if the weather is awful or we just decide to have a "night in" then we can relax in front of the iPad with a drink and spend a couple of hours enjoying a film.
Like everything else, it wouldn't do for us all to like the same things and to me camping is about family time and relaxing and if for you, like us, relaxing is watching a film or providing entertainment for your children on a wet afternoon then what's wrong with that?

This will be the first time for us after 20 years of camping hence all the questions, and we do go walking and splashing about in the rain, its a lot of fun with kids.
However, come early evening when you tend to return to the tent for tea and preparing for showers etc its not an ideal time to go venturing out in the rain again.
I am actually blessed with a young bookworm and a colouring fanatic, but she does like to watch a little tv after, followed by a bedtime story.x
Oh and by the way the volume will be on very low as not to disturb anyone, as I have experienced others with it on full volume!
For me its the only time I get to read a full book, when camping!
Managed to get a brand new kids wetsuit at the car boot this morning, can't wait for her to try it out at the beach.

Another vote for TVCatchup Don't watch much TV while away, but nice to have the option if you want to.
