I've not read all the replies but I walk around 100 miles in a 4 week period (1.25 miles to school, 4 trips a day, 5 days a week = 100 miles). The only walking boot I've got on well with (I've tried many!) is the HiTec 50 peaks range. My current pair are getting on for 12 months old now and are holding up really well. Worth a try for you anyway. I paid around £35.00 for mine from the factory shop.

With our walking experiences would advise the following.

Socks are very important to start with. We wear merino wool - they don't wick like coolmax but are comfortable and don't smell.

Boots - you pays yer money and takes yer choice. I have not and would not hesitate in spending £130 or more to get the right boots. We wear Brasher leather and the support and water resistance was evident straight away.

Lacing the boots - believe it or not is also very important. You can research this on You Tube but here is a good example:
