I have a Coleman Comfort Double Air Bed which has sprung a leak. No idea how this has happened as it goes on a carpet and nothing sharp in the tent. It is the main chamber that has a leak. Any advice on how to find the leak (can't stick it in a bath as I haven't got one) and repair it? I don't think I have the repair kit that came with it either

get a little garden hand spray bottle, fill it with water and a tiny amount of washing up liquid then blow the airbed up and start spraying small areas of the bed, you should see small bubbles where the leak is.

I've just ages repairing a leak on mine, again really looked after it so couldn't understand how it had developed a leak. I did the water/fairy liquid test but couldn't find any leaks, finally plunged into a bath very messy and difficult but did find that one of the circular stitched seams had gone on the flocked surface. Repaired using the flexible seam grip glue stuff and it worked a treat. Several weeks later whilst camping it deflated after a couple of nights, a separate leak. So given up and binned it.
Ended up finding an Aerobed at a car boot last week for £3, took a chance. Found one tiny tiny leak which I have repaired and its been up all week with no probs.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm just going to go for a new bed. Just need to get one that will hold myself and my partner, both of us are on the large side so I don't think a repair would hold up!

We used air beds for a wile in our camping days and found that when they leaked and they did it was always due to a failure at the seams I am not sure if this is due to the heat seam welding but was always a bit of a pain to repair in these spots. Eventually gave up and bought metal camp beds.

We had the same situation with a coleman airbed and found the following remedy foolproof: roll into a tight a ball as possible and bin it!!! we have now used a posadas double with a 5CM comfort SIM for 2 years, bliss!!

Our Comfort airbed sprung a leak last year, we'd forgotten to take the repair kit with us so went to the nearest Halfords and bought a cycle repair kit. It didn't work, so bought a new one.

Funny story about this, on the way to Halfords we were hit by a car causing a small amount of damage to the back offside wheel arch. The man who hit us was an American tourist in a hire car, the company paid out more than the 15 year old Volvo was worth and paid for a new a air bed!


The problem with our air bed was the husband laying on it with keys in his back pocket.

I think im just disappointed that having spent £40 I would expect it to last longer. Hey ho! May aswell get a cheap one, looking at the Regatta ones at Argos at the moment. Definately not spending much more just incase it happens again.

It could be worse, you could be like a friend of mine and spent £150 on an air bed and it leaked.

I wouldn't go for a cheap air bed, you'll end up wasting more money in the long run. (but at the end of the day it's up to you )

Spookily I have just bought a Bestway airbed from Argos for £14!. Figured it was cheap but had pretty good reviews. Well, your was another recommendation. Fingers crossed it survives Glastonbury!

I've just bought my second Intex Queen double height. The first lasted 4 years and used frequently as we sleep in the awning on a seasonal pitch. Hubby and I are around 35 stone plus small dog who loves the airbed so for £20 4 years is pretty good. i just hope this new one is as good. We did get one leak at the beginning of last year and we found it by using a weak solution of soapy water painted on with a paint brush and very close scrutiny it was soon found and fixed with a repair patch. We then got the full season out of it.

We had a Coleman Comfort, leaked after a couple of uses.  Got a refund from Yeomans, went to Argos & purchased a *bargin* Regatta....Bloomin useless, leaked almost straight away!

Spent about £40 on ebay, on the Intex Queen, electric inflate, and have not looked back...almost as good as our bed at home.

Love that bed sooo much!!!
