We have a new Halogen oven - it was either a microwave or halogen. On reading different threads on here we opted for what we call the Halli (Halli Beri) and we've been practising at home before we take it away. In fact I think we're trying chips tomorrow - very healthy - no fat.
So far we've cooked lamb chops, steak, chicken (this took longer than the book said), baked potato - all scruptious - but there are other things that we know will cook well having used it e.g. bacon, sausages, pork belly (not for camping) par baked bread. So very useful! It does, apparently, do very nice pizzas too!
We did do a toad in the hole challenge - Halogen v conventional oven. Unfortunately, the conventional won - but we think it was because we put more batter than recommended (one for us to take note!)
We've got the Andrew James 7 litre model (enough for 2-3) but it does have a riser to allow for extra. It also comes with a "lid rest" which is useful as the lid does get very hot.
So I would say go for it but experiment at home first - I think we're going to use ours a lot at home too!
