Hi,

I'm look at getting a Cadac Safari Chef, ideally the HP version, so i can BBQ outside and still cook on my 'normal' stove (that runs LP) for the 'sides'!  I've read that the HP can lack sufficient heat to BBQ well (any comments on that welcome).  I've looked into getting an HP/LP converter but thet don't seem available......

I've come across the Cadac Power Pak 1000 which is essentially two 500g threaded cylinders together in a plastic container with regulator which connects via a hose to the BBQ.  It implies the this gives better pressure and performance.  Does anyone have any views/experience?

Many thanks

We have the HP Safari Chef and if I use it to cook on then I tend to use the griddle plate for burgers, sausages and chicken rather than the BBQ bit. I have never had a problem with ours and I use a Coleman threaded canister. In fact I usually only take a single burner and the Cadac when we go away and often don't use the single burner.

Just a quick update as i decided to buy the power pak. Very pleased with it (and the mini safari), just come back from 3 weeks in the lake district and it still has gas left after multiple BBQ's. Just a word of warning though, Coleman c500 cylinders don't fit into the container, i havn't tried primus ones yet. It was no bother though as i just left that bit behind, all the regulator gubins is in the lid.
