We've got one of those blue 3-way camping fridges. It worked fine last summer but yesterday I plugged it into the mains and there's something wrong. There's some heat coming out at the back corner which suggests it's got power, but the metal bar inside isn't cooling. I've just connected it up to gas and it started cooling straight away.
Ours did the same, after just two seasons of use, and we had to finally accept it had bitten the dust.
I know if they go dodgy whilst on gas, the advice is to turn them upside down for a while and then try again. It's also necessary to have them as level as possible for them to work efficiently.
Sorry this isn't much help. No idea what happened to ours, but decided it would cost more to have it checked out than it was worth, so had to fork out for another one. Ours did still work on gas (which we hardly ever use, as prefer to be on EHU), but the electric element/component must have shorted/frazzled, or some such thing.
It can take a while on electric for it to cool down in the temps we've been getting recently. It also cools down a lot quicker when full of food rather than empty. I would give it at least half an hour or more before you write it off. Like another poster mentioned, some fridges have to be extremely level before they will work on ehu, but they are not so picky on gas.
Thanks both. I left it in mains for 24 hours and nothing. It cooled down on gas quickly yesterday so I plugged it back in to the mains last night and this evening the bar inside is frozen, so the 240v is working. Not sure what's going on.
